Case study: Get Connected and Lead

Get Connected and Lead

Get Connected and Lead was a project aimed at bringing disabled people and service providers together; to ensuring that disabled people have more influence on how services are delivered. Sadly the project (and website) is no longer active due to funding issues.

At the heart of the project is a training course designed to give disabled people the skills and confidence required to make those interactions with services providers effective.

The project is managed by LEAD Scotland. When choosing a contractor they were looking for a project partner rather than just a company to design and build a website; a partner that would help develop a suitable platform for delivering the SQA qualifications.

Jim Byrne and Associates were chosen as the web development partner for this project. This was a major piece of work in terms of both time and in terms of creative input, i.e it wasn’t just building a website it was about having an input on how the online learning and website could work for the students and staff of the project.

Apart from providing a way for students to manage their course content and submit work – the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for Get Connected and Lead had to be accessible and be highly interactive. Making use of video, audio, chat, photography and integrating with social networking features found on Facebook and Twitter.

The site and the VLE were built from scratch to be integrated with the social networking service Facebook.

Rebranding and Logo redesign

In addition to designing a new website and online training environment Jim Byrne and Associated designed a new Logo for LEAD Scotland.
