  • A low-cost opportunity to get your website checked by an expert, highlighting problems and strengths.
  • Your website will be checked manually by a web accessibility expert against the WCAG 2.1 AA checkpoints.
  • Specific practical suggestions will be provided to improve the accessibility of your site.
  • You will receive an email outlining the issues found and a set of recommendations for improving the accessibility of your website.

The cost of a full audit can vary depending on the complexity and size of the website. For a standard website the cost is £600.

  • The website is checked against all WCAG guidelines up to WCAG 2.2 AA, highlighting all accessibility issues found and providing solutions to those problems. I provide a detailed report that includes:
  • An executive summary highlighting the issues that should be addressed first, i.e., those that present the biggest barriers to disabled people accessing the content and those that are the quickest/easiest to fix.
  • Feedback on usability issues I come across while testing the website. I provide practical suggestions to improve usability as well as accessibility.
  • A discussion of every WCAG 2.2 checkpoint that failed when manually tested against the guidelines. I discuss the issues, provide screenshots (or video if necessary), and code examples (if I think they will be useful), and I suggest solutions. I also give a rating relating to how serious the problem is.
  • A summary table that includes every WCAG 2.2 AA checkpoint, marking whether it passed, failed, or was not applicable.
  • Apart from the manual checks, I use a range of tools to test the website, including screen readers, a text-only browser, a color analyzer, and CSS and HTML validators. My disabled colleagues also use their own accessibility tools to access the website content, including a screen magnifier, color changer, and mobile accessibility tools.
  • I check all dynamic page elements for accessibility.
  • I check the accessibility of online forms to ensure that they are accessible to keyboard users and screen reader users. I check that they will continue to work when scripting is turned off or not available.
  • I conduct the audit myself or bring my two disabled colleagues on board to help. They bring their own perspective and specialist expertise to bear on the audit.

The cost of a full audit can vary depending on the complexity and size of the website. Costs start at £2000. If my disabled collegues are working with me on your audit, the cost starts at £2500.

  • A live audit of your section of your website. Jim Byrne will work through a section of your site with your developers/designers/web editors pointing out any issues found, why they make the website inaccessible, what WCAG 2 guidelines they relate to and how to fix the issue..
  • This service includes a half-day training in the techniques of accessible web design.
  • The process involves assessing the website against a selection of the W3C WCAG checkpoints – in an informal group environment. This allows discussion, and instant clarification of points made, and means questions can be asked related to access issues as they arise.
  • You will receive a detailed report and a checkpoint table with a summary of whether your site passed or failed on each checkpoint covered.
  • Website developers will be armed with an understanding of the importance of accessible web design and be motivated to make the required changes to the website.

Cost start at £4500. The training is tailored to your needs.

"We contacted Jim and his team to audit our old website in preparation for a brand refresh and website redesign, and to do an accessibility audit after the redesign process. From the beginning of our collaboration, Jim was thorough and clear with his findings and provided additional support and advice where we had questions or follow up. His expertise and passion for accessibility came through in each step of the process. We’re thankful to Jim and his team for their support in ensuring our new website can be accessible to all and for setting up our organisation to continue producing accessible content going forward.
